Indian superstitious beliefs - We stand in the crossroad of technology and traditions, that's how things roll in Indian subcontinent. India is a country of rich and diverse cultures and Religion plays a central and definitive role in the life of many of its people and hence India is also a land of superstitions and sacred rituals. So, We conducted a survey where we interviewed a few people from different age groups and different geographical areas. Some believed in superstitions where as some did not but what’s interesting is that only 1% knew the logic behind the superstitious beliefs.

Another interesting thing about all the interviews was that most of the young generation refused to believe in superstitions but agreed that their families are believers and probably even the families don’t know the logic, it was just passed on by their ancestors without an explanation (Do you think it’s time for another Chinua Achebe to rise from India to let the youth understand as to where these superstitions come from?)

Of course, it hews the nation into two parts, one of the intellectuals and another of the ones with ambiguous notions, as we like to think and Indian superstitious beliefs could go beyond reasonable doubts to be propagated throughout the country and spanning generations But wait, are those superstitions that we cold shoulder or side eye really as vague? Perhaps not, there is no reason to admonish them because they may also have kinship with logic.
